
American actor Thomas William Selleck. His most recognizable role was that of Thomas Magnum, a private investigator in Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988), for whom he received five nominations for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead actor in an Drama Series. He won in 1985. In the television series Blue Bloods, Selleck has been a part of the character Frank Reagan, New York City Police Commissioner. Since 2005, he has played the character of Jesse Stone, a troubled police chief in the small town of New York City. In addition, he has appeared in nine television movies that are based on Robert B. Parker novels. Selleck also played the character of Peter Mitchell, a bachelor architect in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and Three Men and a Little Lady (90). Since Magnum, P.I., the actor has appeared in more than fifty roles on television and film, including films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Lassiter and baseball. He was the recurring TV part of Monica Geller's love interest, Dr. Richard Burke in Friends, as Lance White (the likeable but unassuming character) in The Rockford Files and as A.J. Cooper on Las Vegas. He also had a lead role in the western television film The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran and is a spokesperson for National Rifle Association (NRA), an endorser in advertisements for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
